New Adult Education Series – Science and Religion: The Bridge Between Discovery and Faith

Are science and faith in conflict, or have we been asking the wrong question?

This new three-part video series, taught by Ron Furstenau, explores how science and religion relate to one another and why they do not have to compete. Instead of trying to force one to explain the other, this series shows how each speaks to different aspects of truth.

In Part 1, we lay the foundation by exploring how scientists think, defining key terms, and examining common viewpoints about science and religion. The focus is simple but important. Science explains how the world works. Faith helps us understand what it means.

Part 2 moves into the “big” questions. What does science say about the origin of the universe? How do ideas like the Big Bang and the age of the earth relate to the creation accounts in Genesis? We also look at mathematics, evolution, and intelligent design, and how these conversations can deepen rather than weaken faith.

Part 3 turns to the “small” things. We explore the complexity of life at the molecular level, the mystery of DNA, and the questions surrounding the origin of life. We also step into the world of quantum mechanics and reflect on what science can and cannot explain, including consciousness, free will, and the soul.

Taken together, this series offers a thoughtful and grounded look at how scientific discovery and Christian faith can work together, not against each other, pointing us toward a fuller understanding of the world and the God who created it.

Start with Part 1 and follow the series as it unfolds.
