While we're away

From the pastor

We have made a new plan for the winter/spring for ministry at First Lutheran in response to the threat of the Corona Virus.

  • Sunday services will be outdoors and online.  Outdoor Sunday worship at 11:00 a.m.. Outdoor Wednesday worship at 12:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. weather permitting. Sign up here for outdoor worship. The link for online worship will go live on YouTube by Sunday at 7 a.m. All are invited to watch the premier together on Facebook at 9 a.m.
  • Small groups are permitted to meet in the church building at their leaders discretion. Group size is limited to 50% of room capacity. Masks required.
  • 12 step groups can resume using the church building as long as the state's Covid Dial remains at orange or better.
  • Children’s Sunday School will be held through the week using zoom.

As this pandemic drags on we are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel with new vaccines coming online and demonstrating effectiveness. Our intention is to resume in-person indoor worship when the majority of our members have access to vaccination.

online worship

Each week during this time of social distancing we will create a video worship experience. As the social distancing time goes on we will seek to get more involvement from you at home.

Set apart a time to view these videos below. Set aside an hour just as you would on a Sunday morning. Watch them with your household. Pray together. Talk about the sermon together. Let this be an intentional time of worship.

You can find online worship by clicking here.

Caring For Each Other

We will be taking some different approaches to pastoral care in the coming weeks. Pastors and caregivers will not be making hospital or care center visits to protect one another from the spread of viruses. We will be making phone calls, sending emails and writing notes checking in with the home bound and hospitalized. We ask that you reach out to us also, we are available to you in this time which can feel lonely, isolating and frightening.

This is also an opportunity for our congregation to connect and care for one another. Please reach out to those who you would sit by or visit with on a Sunday morning. Let's be church together in this time social distancing.

Faith formation

Sunday Adult Seminar -

Faith in the Midst of a Pandemic
August 9th – August 30th
Online via Zoom, 10:30am Sundays
As Pastor Travis and Pastor Carrie have been preaching the past few months, we are sitting in the Messy Middle of a global pandemic. This journey has not been easy and for many of us our faith is floundering amidst the hardship. This four-week series is set to help us make sense theologically of this anxious and tragic time and our response to it. The sessions will be pulling from N.T. Wright’s newest book “God and the Pandemic: A Christian Reflection on the Coronavirus and its Aftermath” and Max Lucado’s 2017 book “Anxious for Nothing: Finding Calm in a Chaotic World.” Join me for reflective devotion and honest exploration of faith in the midst of a pandemic.
